FAQ

When is #ShadesOnStayStrong Weekend 2023

The Weekend event will take place June 9-11, 2023. Passenger Ferries will depart Sandy Island Dock at Northwoods in Mirror Lake, NH on Friday afternoon and evening (See Event Schedule Page for exact ferry times). Ferries will return you to you to your car at the mainland on Sunday Morning.

What are the accommodations like?

Sandy Island is a rustic 66 acre Island in the heart of beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. You and your party will enjoy the weekend in a private lakeside camp cabin. Cabins have electricity but no plumbing. Centrally located lavatories are a 1-3 minute walk from each cabin.

What are the meals like? I have a special dietary need. Can it be accommodated?

All meals will be served buffet style in the Central Camp Dining Hall. Every Meal will include a vegan option as well as a low-gluten option. In addition to hot items, breakfast will include a selection of bagels, spreads, yogurts, and fruit. Lunch and dinner will include an extensive salad bar option in addition to the main meal. Due to the realities of the camp kitchen we cannot accomodate food for those with severe food allergies. We can however provide support for those that wish to pack their own meals and bring them from home. This can include refrigeration and freezer space for the weekend as well as microwave access for reheating. Please contact us to let us know if anyone in your party intends to bring their own food for the weekend.

What should I pack?

Sandy Island weather can be unpredictable in early June. It can feel like very early spring, or high noon of mid summer. Pack "camp" clothes and plan for layers. It is wise to have an option for rain. Bring sensible camp shoes. Pack a bathing suit, towels for both beach and bathing, toiletries, and athletic clothes for fun camp activities.

Will proceeds from the event go to support charitable causes?
